New Mexico Prevention Specialist Certification signifies proficiency in the field and helps foster recognition by other professions and professionals.
The NM ATODU Prevention Workforce Training Program schedule fulfills training hours toward qualifying for certification testing. Contact hours are acceptable both for Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) and Community Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification.
Certification Process
To become credentialed as a Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) in New Mexico, individuals must apply through The New Mexico Credentialing Board for Behavioral Health Professionals. This organization conducts its certification process under the auspices of the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, Inc.
